Junior Thin Film/Microelectronics Engineer

Bodle Technologies is developing SRD®, a breakthrough reflective display technology based on inorganic phase-change materials. Providing vivid colour, fast refresh and zero energy use for static image storage, the technology addresses the issues of poor outdoor readability and high-power consumption associated with transmissive and emissive displays.  Applications for the technology include electronic shelf-labelling displays in retail, wearables and other consumer electronics devices. At Bodle you will join our team developing our next generation of phase-change materials and inorganic thin-films.

We are seeking a motivated lab-based Junior Thin Film/Microelectronics Engineer with experience of microfabrication techniques in a ‘clean room’ environment and with high tech test equipment. This could be an ideal position for a recent graduate/PhD to get some industrial experience. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Good first degree in Materials Science/Engineering/Physics (essential), or a completed doctorate 

 

Competencies and Skills 

  • Ability to fabricate and test micro-scale devices structures and systems

  • Ability to work to defined quality procedures and identify issues appropriately

  • Ability to maintain clear documentation & update databases

  • High attention to detail and able to maintain high standards and an organised and tidy workplace 

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as an active member of a team, working cooperatively within the group to specific deadlines 

  • Good dexterity 

  • Understanding of the health and safety requirements around handling chemicals 

 

Previous experience

The successful candidate will have a range of experience across some of the following technical fields (the more the better): 

  • Knowledge and experience of electro-optical test systems for materials characterisation 

  • Experience in using and maintaining multilayer thin film sputtering systems and photolithography processes 

  • Knowledge and experience of thin film optics, interference, spectral measurements 

  • Knowledge of materials characterisation techniques such as step height measurement, ellipsometry etc 

  • Device fabrication experience including PECVD, RIE, ALD and photolith processes and materials
